Council Conduct

As a former public offical may I offer some suggestions and opinons?
1. 6 P.M. meeting time - too early.
families are having dinner or concluding their kids athletic events.
2. Several years ago every other Tues.
was a Counci Study Session- no action
was taken. It seemed to work pretty well.
It was an opportunity for good discussion and public input.
3. Many residents follow Council meetings on cable. Belle Haven
meetings are not
televised. The public should not be deprived of this convience for the
sake
of 5 or 10 Belle Haven residents who
might show up.
4. Scheduled Board & Commision reports
is a good idea.
5. Too much time is spent discussing your obsession with an 11 P.M.
adjournment. Too often dicisions have been put over to a later date
because the bewitching hour is approaching. You have an obligation to
conduct the publcs business to a conclusion. You knew going in the time
and hours involved. The Mayor can control babbling and getting off
topic - other than that - may I suggest you take a nap before the
meetings.
6. I don't like stop watch discussion. I think it's important for the
public to hear members ideas, thoughts, and how they arrive at their
dicisions. Members should be responsible and respectful of timeand not
ramble ,talk too much, or think they should repond to every little
thing. If they can not do that - then the Mayor no choice but to limit
time. And we can vote you out of office..
Good luck.Betty
