Hybrid Grass

Dear City Council,

Thank you for hearing us out this evening. I really appreciate your
directness, particularly Mr. Cohen and Mr. Cline.

It must be frustrating to be turned away each time the city council
finds potential field space to pave over. But I charge you with
helping me, a citizen of MP, have an appropriate school for my
daughters, particularly when my school board and superintendent fail
at that task. Having teenagers on their campus, cursing, spitting,
swearing--that's not appropriate. It's very upsetting to hear you do
not care about my girls! That your teens are more important, Mr.
Cline? That makes me want to have a party and persuade my voter
friends against you, which would be the opposite of what I did on
your behalf last year. Thank you Mayor, for recognizing your
responsibility to our littlest citizens. To illustrate my motherly
concern, my niece, a first grader at an elementary school in Santa
Cruz, had a teenage boy at her elementary campus tell her all about
blow jobs. You can bet mothers will not be welcoming this age group
at Encinal. We know better.

We can all agree to recognize the need for more fields in Menlo Park.
I've done some research and here is a viable alternative to an
artificial field:

Soil is imbedded with artificial grass that is mixed in with real
grass. Three percent of the field is artificial and the rest natural.
It can withstand considerably more use than a pure grass field. The
field needs proper drainage and maintenance. It needs the proper
breed of grass that is best suited for sports needs. It is grown in
regular soil and maintained as a regular spots lawn. Why haven't you
heard of it? It's new. But it's in at Manchester United, their
players endorse it, and in some American football fields as of this
year. I believe it's been around for two years. It does not do well
in northern, snow fall areas for obvious reasons.

It would to be great to have this hybrid grass considered for Burgess
or any other location where you want to put in artificial turf. I
know my side, the Environmentalists, would approve of this type of
field, but NOT at Encinal. That field belongs to the children of
Encinal and we plan to fiercely protect it.

See you at the Polls!

Kimberly Wainscoat
