Vision for El Camino Real

I want to commend you for recognizing the need to have a vision and a
plan for El Camino Real and for moving forward to develop that vision.
I am concerned that the proposal presented for you to consider at the
March 20th meeting will result in a false start, or, at best, an
incomplete start. The City needs to involve citizen participation in
this process from the beginning. The citizens should drive this
process rather than being one input along side other "stake-holders".

As a spokesperson for Vision2020, I urge you to initiate an open,
citizen-driven process which takes into consideration the future of the
City for the next 50 years. This process needs to include alternative
approaches along with the costs of those approaches. I urge you to
appoint a task force which will operate openly and which will have a
budget to use consultants such as Dyett & Bhatia. There are citizens
and property owners in the community who would be available to
participate in this task force and who would be effective members.
