Where is the '%-for-Art' ordinance when we need it?

In the haste of the prior council to rescind the nascent '%-for-art'
ordinance, they threw the proverbial baby out with the bathwater.

The major proposed projects along El Camino present the opportunities for
which the %-for-Art ordinance was intended. Attaching an art component to
the public benefit is a small compensation for the unmitigated effects that
these projects present. As El Camino is reviewed for the next generation,
and as the city seeks to indentify public benefits, we should revisit the
role of that ordinance.
