after school care in Menlo Park

I am writing to urge you to find a solution to the current lack of afterschool childcare for our children in Menlo Park, preferably onsite. While I am a parent of an incoming kindergartner who does not currently need afterschool care, I know how an unexpected change in family dynamics -- such as death, illness or marital status -- can quickly alter our childcare needs.

Providing safe, reliable childcare does not simply meet the needs of parents; it makes sense for communities. If children are cared for in a nurturing and stimulating environment, parents are secure in knowing that their children are happy and well-cared for. That certainly must have a positive impact on teachers and school administrators.

It is also worth noting that many families with young children have recently moved to this area and we find ourselves paying astronomical property taxes based on the inflated prices of homes. Given this, it seems only just that the city address this fundamental need.

Sincerely,
Amy M. Cramer
