Dear City Council,
2/6/2007
I fully support your adoption of a resolution to form and implement a
plan to reduce Greenhouse gasses (GHG) emmisions that resulting from
actions of Menlo Park residents, businesses and other institutions.
I support your adoption of a Resolution Setting Climate Protection
Targets.
I support the GHG reduction targets embodied in the Governor's Executive
Order S-3-05.
As the Council of a city with significant exposure to the risks of
global climate change, you
are wise to set a good example for other cities everywhere to follow.
Perhaps by taking bold action, Menlo Park will inspire other cities to
take action. These collective actions are our best hope at reducing and
delaying the risks to which we are exposed by our low elevation and city
geography immobility. The reduction and delay of the worst impacts of
global climate change may give us the time to apply creativity and
initiative required to adjust and adapt to the challenge.
Thank you for considering this issue.
Sincerely,
Tom Kabat
