putting day care in with hazardous industrial chemicals

Madam Mayor and Council,

You already have the considered, unanimous decision of your Planning
Commission in front of you regarding Casa dei Bambini. In that lengthy
hearing, support for the center fell apart when it was realized just what
kind of chemicals were in use in the M2 zone.

At the hearing, several R&D businesses stepped forward to ask, will the
insertion of such a school soon restrict the M2 zone to be "safe" for
toddlers? The reasons for creating and segregating an industrial zone are
obvious. Or should be.

Tonight at the planning commission, two R&D M2 projects were heard. At
both, the nearest residents (about a quarter mile away) were there to speak
against the granting of materials use permits (for sites already holding
such permits) due to the existence of a middle school on the edge of the M2.
What will they say when a day care center is inserted directly on OBrien
Drive?

Casa dei Bambini is a well loved organization that deserves a new home.
Please don't let their real estate desperation lead to toddlers in the least
desirable environment on the entire peninsula.

They and supporters seek a favor. But they need leadership.

Henry Riggs,
Callie Lane
