To the City Council-
I am unable to attend the City Council meeting on 2/6/07 when the
proposed project at 805 Evergreen will be discussed. I would like to
share my concerns about the project, as a neighbor. I live at 780
Magnolia Street which is parallel to Evergreen. I see the homes from my
house and regularly walk on Evergreen, that is twice a day. The block
primarily consists of Eichler homes and all are one story except for one
which has a small second story. The proposed project by the new owners
of 805 Evergreen has not taken into consideration the architectural and
design feel of the block in their proposal. I am very much concerned
with the mega-houses that are being proposed in the neighborhood as I
feel most of them are too big for the lots. In fact, the house next to
me recently sold to a developer and I am sure I will be concerned with
what they propose. We remodeled 12 years ago and decided to go with a
one story house as it maintained the 'feel' of the neighborhood. With
each house that is sold and with new megahouses in their place, there is
an escalation of the destruction of the quaintness of the neighborhood.
I strongly feels that the views of the neighbors directly impacted by
the two story proposal should be considered and both are concerned with
the height of the project. Please ask the property owners to consider
other design options that do not have the same height factors in them.
Thank you for your consideration.
