Dear City Council Members of Menlo Park:

I apologize in advance if email is not the appropriate protocol for this
message. My wife and I wanted to reach out to communicate our thoughts
on this matter as Menlo Park residents and based on the information on
the website felt that email might be most expedient way to do so.

We (Preetha Basaviah and Venky Ganesan) live on 65 Gloria Circle in
Menlo Park and are lucky enough to have a daughter (Divya Ganesan) who
attends Casa Dei Bambini. I am a venture capitalist at Globespan
Capital Partners and my wife, Preetha, is a Professor of Medicine at
Stanford Medical School. We recently moved from San Francisco to Menlo
Park.

I have learned that the City Council will be hearing Casa Dei Bambini's
appeal very shortly and wanted to provide our opinion as a layperson's
input into the process. I realize that planning decisions are complex
and that you folks are trying to manage multiple constituencies and
issues.

From our perspective, we are very strongly in support of the possibility
of Casa Dei Bambini opening a preschool on 1215 O' Brien for the
following reasons:

a. Having high quality pre-school options close to where people
live is very important from both a quality of life standpoint as well as
for the strength of the community. Casa Dei Bambini is one of the best
pre-schools in this region as evidenced by the very long waitlist they
have and I think it would be great to have them in Menlo Park so that
they are more accessible to Menlo Park residents.

a. The area around 1215 O Brien already has a small day care close
by and also schools so an additional pre-school should not upset the
nature of the area

a. I realize that there might be other businesses who could bring
in more revenue for the city by being there but I would like to think
that its as important to maximize quality of life as it is to maximize
revenues. Also Casa is a well run organization so they would be
positive to the tax base in Menlo Park.

We hope you will consider these thoughts in your review on this matter
and we hope you will rule favorably. We look forward to seeing you in
person during the City council meeting on this topic.

Sincerely,

Venky and Preetha Ganesan
