Regarding Use Permit for Casa Dei Bambini

Dear Mr. Thomas Rogers and Menlo Park City Council members,

Please accept this email as an indication of my full support of the
recent Use Permit application filed by Casa dei Bambini (CdB) for the
1215 O'Brien Drive location. My husband and I, both technology
professionals, have been Menlo Park residents since 2002 and strongly
believe that allowing CdB a permit for this location will be a large
benefit, both for families in need of quality education/child care
options, but also for the community in general. I truly believe that
supporting a diversity of local businesses enriches the entire Menlo
Park economy and reinforces the “family friendly” spirit that is so
attractive about this city.

We have MANY friends with children in Menlo Park and have seen first
hand how painful and daunting a process finding quality education/child
care is. In fact, our dear friends have a 2-year old daughter, Anisha
Gandhi, who is ready to enter the amazing program that CdB offers, but
due to their current space constraints, she cannot be considered.
Watching the Gandhi’s process, filled with frustration and worry, has
been so hard to watch – it shouldn’t be this hard for quality members of
the community and stable tax payers to find a place for their daughter
to learn and grow in their own home town. My fear is that Menlo Park,
by refusing permits of CdB’s nature, will in the end change Menlo Park’s
reputation to one that minimizes the family.

Please consider the long-term implications of not supporting CdB’s
permit request – cultivating a rich and diverse community that honors
parents and their children is made up of many things, not the least of
which is supporting their educational growth and giving parents peace of
mind that their children are safe and thriving.

I’m happy to discuss this further so please don’t hesitate to contact me
if you wish. Thank you!

Jenée Rue-Sastry
