Dear Council members,
As parents of both a gymnast and soccer player (our daughter might be the rare combination of both sports), I want to petition to you that funds be allocated to the gym facility. Our daughter has been attending gymnastics since she was 6 months old, (she is now 10 years old) and loves the sport. However the facility is in poor condition. We have gone to other gyms in the Bay Area for competitions and it is embarrassing that our City cannot even host a meet to create revenue due to the lack of safe equipment and space.
I do not have data, but I believe the gym has not been upgraded in a long time, whereas soccer fields seem to gather most of the attention.
There is a demand to use our program, long lines form to sign up every season and we have such enthusiastic staff, it is a shame they have to work in lamentable conditions, specially in the summer.
Please help in upgrading the gym facility to the same level as our playing fields. ($13.5 million have already been spent in parks vs. $0 spent in the gym).
Thank you for your consideration,
Sincerely,
Eric and Cristina Kinney
