Public Meeting Input

Mayor Fergusson and Council Members:

I would like to request that you conclude council meetings no later than
11PM. While I am sure that it is very tiring and stressful for you
all, the public is also not well served by discussions and decisions
that go beyond a time when the residents can be in attendance or
monitoring the proceedings on TV. During the last meeting I observed a
haste to finish that precluded a discussion about the utility tax.
This could have been a very important discussion of fiscal matters that
was completely disregarded, in part because of the lateness of the
hour. Further, there seemed to be confusion about the legal information
regarding the 75 Willow Rd. project. Was there any reason to reach
decisions about either or both of these issues? This is not the open
and transparent government I envisioned for the new council.

Lastly, I would like to suggest that when there is an agenda with
important issues, that it be prioritized so that the more important
issues are discussed earlier in the agenda. Cramming too many issues
on the council agenda should be re-evaluated as well. Please take the
time to consider the amount and line up so that the council and
citizens alike will have a win-win meeting!

Thank you for your attention to this matter.
